Two Swedes through
After the second round in KK & DP there is one boy and one girl still representing Sweden. Stina Larsson and Albert Saar are fiercely defending the blue and yellow colours as we enter the round of 16.
Alfons Ridströ (Åby TK) had a tough time with Romanian player Mihai Alexandru Coman; this match was swiftly over ending 6-2, 6-1 to Coman.
Albert Saar from Lidingö TK was impressive against Bon Lou Karstens from Germany. Saar played confidently and became victorious with a 6-3. 6-3 win.
Stina Larsson from Lillån TK (picture), fought her way into the next round against Weronika Ewald from Poland. Larson and Ewald play a similar game, continually battling for court position. Larsson was stronger on the day with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-4 win. A great success considering Ewald won the Tennis Europe tournament in Järfälla last week.
On Wednesday’s matches, look out for 3rd seed Yaroslav Denim from Russia. This player has a solid past record and is exceptionally skilled at moving his opponents around the court.
Another possible fun match will be Brenda Fruhvirtova (from the Czech Republic) against the second-seeded player from Russia, Elena Pridankina. Brenda is the younger sister of Linda F. who won Drottningens Pris in 2018.
– I hope many tennis fans turn up in the hall on Wednesday. My tip is not to miss Fruhvirtova vs. Pridankina. The Russian has only lost one game so far, but little sister Fruhvirtova is of a different calibre, comments Joe Beaton.
