Kungens Kanna & Drottningens Pris is ranked as one of the world’s leading junior tournaments for 14-year-olds. Similar to past events, players from no less than 30 countries are expected.

Both the boys and the girls events feel open at the moment, this all adds to the excitement. 20 of the top 50 players in Europe are in the main draw. Thanks to the competition’s status as a Category 1 Tennis Europe event, this is the Swedish Tennis Federation’s and KLTK’s chance to offer the best Swedish juniors the highest caliber of european competition.

KLTK’s Leo Borg is the only Swede directly in the main draw due to an impressive raking of 29. More than twenty Swedish juniors will get the chance however to compete in the main draw, double this number in qualifying.

European number three from Belarus Jana Kolodynska, Russian duo Maria Bondarenko and Ksenia Aleshina, Denmark’s Elmer Møller, Britain’s Derrick Chen (above picture) and France’s Max Westphal are some big names worth keeping an eye on next week.

– We look forward to this years event and it would be a bonus to see some local Swedish players progressing through the rounds even though they are up against some tough competition, says an enthusiastic Tournament Director Joe Beaton.
