Two Swedes in last 16, top seeds deliver solid performances.

After a day with matches from early morning to late this afternoon, 16 players got through to the next round in Kungens Kanna / Drottningens Pris. Its starting to show which players are on good form and have a shot at a place in the finals and two swedes made it through.

Todays surprise was Kevin Chahoud from Falkenberg who managed to overcome 15th seed Roni Mikael Hietaranta from Finland 6-2, 6-3. Europes number one Timofey Skatov and number two Jack Draper won their opening matches and are looking hard to beat. France’s Allan Deschamps and Loris Pourroy also showed they can compete on the highest level and it will be interesting to see what they can do in the third round.

Victoria Carlsten also played a great match and won 6-2, 6-0 against Zeynep Naz Özturk, ranked 23rd in Europe.

Tomorrow will feature some of the most interesting matches of the tournament when Swedish wild card Kevin Chahoud takes on Britains Jack Draper and Victoria Carlsten will face Russian Kamilla Rakhimova.

Today we saw some really good tennis here at the club and my tip for tomorrow’s matches is top seed Russian Ekaterina Makarova against Polands Maja Chwalinska who recently won the European Team Championships. – Says Joe Beaton, Tournament Director
