Sunday’s qualifying finals offered high-quality tennis, with two Swedes making it through to the main event.

It was the Swedes Nelly Mezan, Farsta TK and Måns Dahlberg, Påvelund that made it through the incredibly competitive qualifying stage. Dahlberg had a shaky start in his match, but managed to gain control of his nerves and turned two 1-4 starts into two straight set wins. Nelly Mezan from Farsta surprised with her win against the much higher ranked Ukrainian.

– Tomorrow, Monday, the main event begins and we at KLTK are all looking forward to the coming week. The highest ranked players play their first matches on Tuesday, so we will dedicate our focus tomorrow on the Swedish talent, commented Competition General Joe Beaton.

There are a total of twelve Swedish boys and nine girls that will be put to the test against Europe’s premier junior tennis players.

Two Swedes to keep a look out for tomorrow is the top ranked Ross Weibull from Lund and Adam Heinonen of Vaxjö TS, who showed brilliant form in the recent Tennis Europe event in Trollbäcken last week that he ended up winning.

Of the Swedish girls, we’ll keep an extra eye on the top rated Maria Petrovic and the Academy of KLTK’s Emma Shasteen, who was the best performing Swedish girl last week in Trollbäcken where she made it to the semifinals. In addition to the above, we will keep our fingers crossed for the organizing club’s Elliot Altman, Leo Borg and Loviisa Condé.

Let the games begin!
