This week marks the one-year anniversary of Kungens Kanna & Drottningens Pris 2022, that initially was postponed due to the pandemic and took place in November instead of February/March.

We reflect on our past champions, Salvador Monteiro and Giulia Safina Popa, who made history as the first Portuguese and Romanian players to lift the victory trophies in KKDP’s storied history. Other notable moments included the emergence of a surprise qualifier in the boys’ finals, Moise Kouame, who quickly became a crowd favorite. Additionally, for the first time in a decade, a Swedish player, Tiana Tian Deng secured a spot in the semifinals adding to the excitement. Anna Pushkareva pushed Popa to a decisive third set in the girl’s final, and Kouame proved to be a formidable opponent for Monteiro in the boy’s final. These are just a glimpse of the many highlights from last year’s week of tennis.

As we prepare for the upcoming KKDP tournament, set to kick off in just a few months, the anticipation and excitement continue to build. We look forward to having the junior elite back at The Royal Tennis Hall.
