Last year, the twelve-year-old Brenda Fruhvirtova from the Czech Republic, went all the way and triumphed in Drottningens Pris and became the sensation of the tournament. She also defended the family honour since her older sister, Linda, won the championship the previous year.

This year, though coming in unseeded once more, she will be a top candidate to win. Fruhvirtova is not only the defending champion of Drottningens Pris; she recently won Les Petits As, the French tournament in Tarbes, considered to be the most significant event for 14&Under in the world. Les Petits As was also nominated for the Super Category, the new category in the Tennis Europe Junior Tour.

If Fruhvirtova were to be victorious in Drottningens Pris again, it would be the first time in 15 years a player wins the tournament two years in a row. Since its start in 1950, Drottningens Pris has had five champions winning the title and defending it.
