Pre-tipped favourite Brenda Fruhvirtova continues her strong streek and is ready for the quarter-finals. On Thursday afternoon, for the second time, she received membership in the Drottningens Pris Last 8 Club. British Vlada Kozak had to settle for only two games against the mighty Brenda.

The last hope for the Swedes, Tilda Larsson from Fair Play TK, started strongly against Turkey’s Duru Soke and finished the first set 6-4. Unfortunately, the level dropped in the second set; players behaved nervously with countless double faults. The second set was 6-2 to Turkey. In the decisive set, Tilda started to find her way back and took a 4-2 lead, but regrettably, many unforced errors gave Duru Soke four straight games, ending the match in her favour.

Most quarterfinal matches were short and sweet. The French girl, Thessy Ntondele Zinga had a chance to extend the match by leading 4-1 in the second set, but Vlada Mincheva from Russia stepped up and closed the match 6-3, 6-4.
